  • Hardraw Force - England’s highest single-drop waterfall, a breathtaking sight to behold

  • Dales Countryside Museum - learn the rich history of the Yorkshire Dales and the people who have lived and worked this land for thousands of years

  • Hawes also has a bustling high-street with many independent shops and galleries which are all well worth a browse

Highlights

  • Hawes to Burtersett Circular (3 Miles) - meander through the cobbled streets of Hawes before ambling over fields to the traditional village of Burtersett on a route used for hundreds of years by those travelling on foot to and from the town

  • Bainbridge and Semerwater (9 Miles) - follow the old Roman road out of Bainbridge, an ideal vantage point for scenic views over Upper Wesnleydale, before passing by the tranquil shores of Semerwater

  • Mill Gill Circular (2.5 Miles) - starting in the picturesque village of Askrigg not far from Hawes this walk guides you through ancient woodland to a mysterious hidden waterfall and back along traditional paths flanked by dry-stone walls

  • Cafe Curva - a classic cafe in the centre of Hawes, serving up a range of homemade delights

  • The White Hart Inn - a 16th century former coaching inn this restaurant is full of character serving a modern take on a range of pub classics

  • Wensleydale Ice Cream - a huge variety of locally made ice-cream and other delicious dishes served up in a converted stone livestock barn

  • Corn Mill - nestled in Bainbridge on your way into Hawes this local gem serves an array of breakfast and lunch dishes as well as lovingly made sweet treats
