Richmond

Richmond is a characterful town with winding streets and plenty of local shops to browse. Tour Richmond Castle, walk along the banks of the River Swale, explore the marketplace or enjoy a wide variety of food & drinks! If you fancy exploring further beyond Richmond, the Bowes Museum is also well worth a visit.

  • Bowes Museum - a magnificent French-style chateau housing an extensive collection of fine and decorative arts

  • River Swale & Easby Abbey (3.5 Miles) - wander along the Swale up to the historic ruins of Easby Abbey and back into the historic centre of Richmond

  • Whitcliffe Woods (5.5 Miles) - this walk along the ridgeline above Richmond will treat you to spectacular views of the Swale Valley below
